Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa

Atlantic City's most successful modern casino — the gold standard since 2003.

1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA

Operated by: MGM Resorts International

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa opened on July 3, 2003 and immediately transformed Atlantic City's competitive landscape. In a market where most properties dated from the late 1970s or 1980s and had aged poorly, Borgata brought genuinely contemporary luxury hotel design, a curated culinary programme, and nightlife infrastructure that positioned Atlantic City as a credible destination rather than a day-trip gambling venue.

Developed as a joint venture between MGM Mirage and Boyd Gaming (since fully acquired by MGM Resorts), Borgata invested approximately USD 1.1 billion in the original construction — an unprecedented commitment to Atlantic City by a major casino group. The result was the most successful new casino opening in New Jersey history and, for most of the period since 2003, the highest-grossing individual casino in Atlantic City.

The casino floor spans approximately 161,000 square feet with over 3,400 gaming machines and 200+ table games. The Borgata Poker Room is among the most respected on the East Coast, hosting major WSOP circuit events. The hotel's 2,800 rooms were supplemented by The Water Club — a non-smoking luxury tower addition opened in 2008. The dining programme features restaurants by Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, and Michael Symon.
