New York-New York Hotel & Casino opened on January 3, 1997 and immediately became one of the most photographed casino exteriors in Las Vegas history. The resort reproduces Manhattan's iconic skyline in miniature — the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, and other skyscrapers form the hotel tower cluster, all compressed to approximately one-third scale. The Statue of Liberty replica at the main entrance has become a landmark in its own right and serves as a distinctive reference point on the mid-Strip.

The interior continues the New York theme: the casino floor is designed as a series of interconnected outdoor Manhattan streetscapes complete with brownstone building facades, fire escapes, and street signs for Fifth Avenue and Broadway. The effect is disorienting in the best Las Vegas tradition — a self-contained urban simulation that suspends spatial reality for the duration of a visit.

The Big Apple Coaster — a roller coaster that loops around the outside of the building at heights of up to 203 feet — is one of the most distinctive thrill rides on the Strip, offering views of the southern Las Vegas skyline at speed. The casino floor spans approximately 84,000 square feet. A significant tribute memorial to 9/11 victims, assembled by visitors and maintained by the casino, has occupied a section of the exterior since September 2001 and remains one of the most visited public memorial spaces in Las Vegas.
