The Fibonacci Betting System

A negative progression system based on the Fibonacci sequence — one of the slower-growing progressions, offering gentler bankroll exposure than the Martingale.

The Fibonacci system uses the famous Fibonacci sequence — where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones — as the basis for bet sizing after losses. The sequence: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89...

Application to Casino Betting

In a negative Fibonacci progression: - Start at position 1 in the sequence (bet 1 unit) - After each loss, move one step forward in the sequence - After each win, move two steps backward (minimum: the first position)

Example: - Bet 1: Loss → move to position 2 (bet 1) - Bet 1: Loss → move to position 3 (bet 2) - Bet 2: Loss → move to position 4 (bet 3) - Bet 3: WIN → move back two to position 2 (bet 1) - Bet 1: WIN → at start, stay at position 1

Why the Fibonacci Grows More Slowly

After 10 consecutive losses, the Martingale requires 1,024 units. The Fibonacci requires only 89 units. This makes the Fibonacci far less likely to hit table limits and far more survivable through extended losing streaks.

Recovery Mechanics

A single win does not fully erase prior losses in the Fibonacci system — you step back two positions, not to zero. Complete recovery from a losing streak requires a winning streak roughly 60% as long. This is more realistic than the Martingale's one-win recovery but still assumes an unlikely reversal of fortune.

Where It's Applied

The Fibonacci is favoured in baccarat and roulette by players seeking a structured progression with lower variance than the Martingale. Its popularity in Asian casinos is significant — many VIP baccarat players apply variations of the Fibonacci to their session betting, often combined with streak-tracking via bead road score cards.
