Okada Manila
Japan's Universal Entertainment brings its most ambitious resort to Manila Bay.
New Seaside Drive, Entertainment City, Parañaque, Philippines
Operated by: Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc. (Universal Entertainment Corp., Japan)
Okada Manila opened in December 2016 as the most expensive resort ever built in the Philippines, with an investment exceeding USD 2.4 billion by its Japanese developer Universal Entertainment Corporation — the pachinko and gaming machine manufacturer whose chairman Kazuo Okada personally championed the project. The resort is named after Okada himself, an unusual naming choice that reflects the personal stakes involved.
The resort occupies 44 hectares on the Entertainment City reclamation and is structured around four hotel towers — the Villa, the Tower, the Coral Wing, and the retail Boulevard — encircling a central amenity core. The Cove is Okada's centrepiece: an outdoor pool and entertainment venue with a retractable roof covering a 3,000-capacity stage and a multi-tiered beach club. The property also contains the world's largest fountain show at its outdoor plaza — the Fountain of Dreams.
The casino floor spans approximately 30,000 square metres, with premium mass and VIP baccarat catering primarily to Filipino, Chinese, and Korean high-net-worth players. The resort was built to standards competitive with Singapore's IRs — Forbes Five Star service levels, European luxury hotel furnishings, and culinary programming that includes Yamazato (Japanese), UMI (seafood), and Medley (buffet).
