Altira Macau

Macau's most intimate ultra-luxury address — exclusivity above the Cotai plain.

Taipa Island, Macau SAR, China

Operated by: Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd.

Altira Macau opened in May 2007 as Crown Macau, a joint venture between Melco International and Crown Limited of Australia, before being rebranded as Altira Macau in 2010 after Crown's exit from the Macau market. Positioned on the northern tip of Taipa Island with sweeping views across the Macau skyline and Pearl River Delta, Altira occupies a deliberate niche in Macau's market: it targets ultra-high-net-worth VIP gamblers rather than mass tourism.

The 38-storey tower contains only 216 suites — among the smallest room counts of any casino hotel in Macau — which means every guest receives genuinely personalised service rather than the conveyor-belt hospitality of larger properties. Each suite offers panoramic views and butler service as standard. The casino floor is configured for private, high-limit baccarat gaming with no slot machines, creating an atmosphere more reminiscent of a London private members club than a conventional casino.

Altira's dining is among the most critically acclaimed in Macau: the Cantonese restaurant Aurora holds multiple Michelin stars, and the overall culinary programme reflects the property's positioning as a destination for discerning wealthy visitors who happen to play baccarat rather than gamblers who happen to eat.
